Mehedy Hassan

Mehedy Hassan is a geospatial scientist specializing in remote sensing, geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), and spatial analytics. He earned his Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Florida and his Master’s degree in Geoinformatics from the University of Seoul, South Korea. He also holds B.Sc. and M.S. degrees in Geography from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Dr. Hassan’s current research focuses on developing data-driven, robust computational workflows for next-generation nautical chart design, drawing on his expertise in geospatial science, machine learning, and GeoAI.

Before joining the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping (CCOM), Dr. Hassan was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at Stanford University, where he developed end-to-end data pipelines and advanced convolutional neural network models to automatically identify potential dengue mosquito breeding grounds in high-resolution drone imagery.
