Conferences

The Center, recognizing the benefits of creating strong ties to the ocean mapping and hydrographic community, has hosted the International Conference on High-Resolution Mapping in Shallow Waters (Shallow Survey) twice. This popular international conference has allowed Center students and researchers to be involved in collecting a wide array of state-of-the-art data sets and then participate in the processing, presentation, and discussion of these data sets. The data collected as part of these meetings has been a tremendous resource to Center students and researchers, as well as researchers from around the world, and has made Portsmouth Harbor a “test bed” where manufacturers and others often bring new systems for field testing. It is now one of the most mapped harbors in the world! The Center will likely host another Shallow Survey conference in the future and will continue to have a strong presence at Shallow Survey conferences held elsewhere.
